Our comprehensive product portfolio includes a wide range of brass rods (including low-lead and lead-free grades), brass fittings, and pipe components, engineered for exceptional mechanical strength, corrosion resistance, and machinability across plumbing, HVAC, automotive, and industrial applications.
The NINGXING Electroplated Brass Hex Pipe Plug is designed for closing threaded pipe ports, unused openings, and equipment connections. It combines a solid brass body with a nickel-plated surface and hexagonal head, allowing installation and removal with a standard wrench. The plated surface provides additional resistance to moisture, oxidation, wear, and common industrial contaminants.
The Electroplated Brass Hex Pipe Plug is available in NPT, BSPT, BSPP, and other thread configurations. It can be used for water, air, oil, HVAC, hydraulic, pneumatic, and general industrial piping applications when the thread, pressure, temperature, and medium requirements are properly matched.
Thread Selection
1. BSPT vs. BSPP
BSPT and BSPP should not be selected only by nominal thread size because their sealing principles are different. BSPT is a tapered thread, and sealing is generally achieved through interference between the male and female tapered threads, normally together with a suitable thread sealant. BSPP is a parallel thread, so the thread itself is not normally the primary sealing surface; sealing generally depends on an O-ring, bonded seal, sealing washer, or another designated sealing element at the connection face. Using a BSPP plug in a BSPT port, or the reverse, may result in improper engagement and leakage.
2. NPT Connection
NPT is a tapered American pipe thread commonly used in industrial equipment and piping systems. Its tapered geometry allows the mating threads to create an interference fit, while an appropriate thread sealant is commonly used to improve sealing. Buyers should confirm that both the plug and mating port follow the same NPT specification before ordering.
3. Thread Matching
Before purchasing, confirm the thread standard, nominal size, pitch where applicable, and sealing method. NINGXING can manufacture different thread combinations and provide technical assistance when buyers are unsure whether a BSPT, BSPP, or NPT configuration is required.
Pressure & Temperature
1. Working Conditions
For preliminary selection, a reference working pressure of up to 1.6 MPa can be used for applicable standard configurations. The actual pressure rating depends on plug size, material grade, thread specification, sealing method, and operating conditions. The typical reference temperature range is approximately -40℃ to +100℃, while special configurations can be evaluated for higher or lower temperatures.
The pressure and temperature values should not be treated as universal ratings for every size. For high-pressure, high-temperature, gas, refrigeration, or other critical applications, buyers should provide complete operating conditions so the appropriate specification can be confirmed.
2. Surface Treatment — Nickel Plating
The nickel-plated finish adds a protective surface layer to the brass substrate and provides a consistent metallic appearance. It helps improve resistance to moisture, oxidation, light salt spray, oil, grease, and general industrial exposure.
For aggressive chemicals, continuous marine exposure, drinking-water systems, or other regulated applications, the actual medium and applicable certification requirements should be confirmed before selection.
Manufacturing Control
NINGXING uses brass forming and precision CNC machining to produce the component. Machining controls the hexagonal head, threaded section, and sealing surfaces, while inspection procedures verify dimensional consistency and thread accuracy.
Production operates under an ISO 9001:2015 quality management system. Products can be supplied with applicable CE and RoHS compliance documentation. RoHS addresses restricted substances and does not constitute drinking-water certification. If the product is intended for potable water, additional requirements such as NSF/ANSI 61, NSF/ANSI 372, or applicable local regulations should be confirmed separately.

The electroplated version is mainly selected when buyers require the mechanical properties of brass together with an additional nickel-plated surface. The correct product should ultimately be determined by thread configuration, sealing method, operating conditions, and installation requirements.
Application Areas
1. Oil & Industrial Lines
The plug can be installed on unused threaded ports, maintenance openings, and equipment connections to prevent unwanted fluid leakage and contamination. The hexagonal head allows maintenance personnel to remove the component with standard tools when the correct installation torque is applied.
2. Fire & Water Systems
In water and fire-related equipment, it can be used to close threaded outlets and reserved connections. The actual pressure rating should always be checked against the system design pressure and applicable regulations.
3. HVAC Equipment
For HVAC and refrigeration equipment, threaded ports may need to remain closed during transportation, installation, pressure testing, or maintenance. The plated brass construction provides a practical option where the thread standard and operating temperature are compatible.
4. Machinery & Maintenance
A customer manufacturing industrial equipment previously needed to close multiple unused threaded ports during equipment assembly. The customer selected NINGXING plugs with matching thread specifications, reducing the need for temporary protective caps and allowing maintenance personnel to remove the plugs directly with standard tools during later system modification.

Installation Guide
1. Check the Thread
Confirm that the Electroplated Brass Hex Pipe Plug and mating port use the same thread standard and nominal size. Pay particular attention to BSPT, BSPP, and NPT because similar nominal dimensions do not mean that the threads are interchangeable.
2. Apply the Seal
For tapered threaded connections such as BSPT and NPT, an appropriate PTFE tape or thread sealant may be required. For BSPP connections, use the specified O-ring, bonded seal, washer, or other face-sealing element according to the port design.
3. Tighten Correctly
Start the plug by hand to ensure the threads engage correctly, then use a suitable wrench for final tightening. Excessive torque should be avoided because it may damage the brass threads or connected equipment.
Common Installation Errors
1. Mixing Thread Standards
Installing BSPT, BSPP, and NPT components together without confirming compatibility is a common cause of leakage. Always verify the actual thread standard rather than relying only on the nominal size.
2. Over-Tightening
Excessive tightening force can deform brass threads or damage the mating port. The recommended torque should be followed whenever a manufacturer specification is available.
3. Poor Thread Cleaning
Metal chips, dust, old sealant, or damaged threads can prevent proper engagement. Both mating surfaces should be cleaned and inspected before installation.
FAQ
What is the difference between BSPT and BSPP?
BSPT uses tapered threads and normally creates sealing through thread interference together with suitable sealant. BSPP uses parallel threads and generally requires a separate sealing element such as an O-ring, washer, or bonded seal. They should not be treated as interchangeable.
What pressure can it withstand?
A reference working pressure of up to 1.6 MPa can be used for preliminary selection of applicable configurations. The final rating depends on size, thread standard, material, sealing method, and operating conditions.
What is the operating temperature?
The typical reference range is -40℃ to +100℃. Special temperature requirements should be evaluated according to the material, plating, seal, and actual service conditions.
Is it suitable for drinking water?
RoHS compliance does not mean that the product is certified for potable water. For drinking-water applications, additional low-lead and potable water certifications should be confirmed according to the destination market.
Can it be used in gas systems?
Gas applications require confirmation of the applicable thread standard, pressure rating, sealing method, material requirements, and local regulations. The required gas certification should be verified before installation.
Can the product be customized?
Yes. NINGXING supports customized dimensions, thread specifications, surface finishes, logos, and packaging for OEM and ODM projects.
What information is required for quotation?
Buyers should provide the thread standard, nominal size, working pressure, temperature, medium, quantity, and surface-finish requirements. Drawings or samples are recommended for non-standard specifications.
